Hello and welcome to Ovacome! Ovarian cancer affects 1 in 72 women of all ages. Tragically, our state of Florida has the second highest incidence and mortality rate for Ovarian Cancer in the United States. Unfortunately, 75% to 80% are diagnosed in advanced stages greatly limiting life expectancy. This statistic has not changed in 20 years. This statistic can only change through improved funding for Ovarian Cancer Research and the education of women and physicians about the risks and subtle symptoms of ovarian cancer. As a non-profit, charitable organization, affiliated with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, we will raise funds, encourage discussion, promote scientifically valid research, print and distribute informative material, provide hope and support and promote health to improve an understanding of the subtle symptoms of Ovarian Cancer in order to reduce the number of deaths from this dreadful disease. |
